Marine Life

Whales - The waters around Sidney offer the highest percentage of Orca sightings, the Pacific Northwest southern resident Orca Whales (fish eating) do not migrate but roam their territory year round. The three pods number nearly 100 individuals. The salmon return to inland waters to spawn April to October giving the best opportunity to see these magnificent mammals. Other whales such as Gray, Minke, Humpback and transient (meat eating) Orcas may be observed.

Other animals frequently seen are Harbour and Elephant Seals, Sea Lions, Dall's and Harbour Porpoise and Pacific White Sided Dolphin.

We can recommend Emerald Sea Adventures for Whale Watching trips from Sidney.
