Warm summers and mild winters with little snow characterise Vancouver Island's temperate rain forest climate. Considerably milder than that of the Mainland, Vancouver Island boasts the mildest climate in Canada.
The summer average temperature around Victoria is 21 degrees Celsius and the winter average temperature is 8 degrees Celsius. Western Vancouver Island receives over 250 centimetres of precipitation annually, but Victoria on the east coast gets only about 86 centimetres.
